One of the many fortifications built by the Italians during their 35-year occupation of the Dodecanese. It is located opposite the hill of the castle of Panagia. Location of the anti-aircraft battery 'Lago'. This was one of the main points of attack by the Germans during the Battle of Leros (12-16 November 1943), which resulted in the occupation of the island by the Germans and the capture of 3,000 British and 5,000 Italian soldiers.
