LEROS

A very special Dodecanese island in Greece, Leros deserves the several days it takes to discover its secrets. It has developed into a well organized, gently touristic destination in the last twenty years. The rich history of Leros, which became part of Greece in 1948, is reflected in both the island’s wide range of distinctive architectural features and its historic sites. It is noteworthy for its castles, Italian fortifications, imposing churches, and luxurious neoclassical mansions, as well as minimalist architecture of the International Style. It has many good beaches; while they are not the rich sandy beaches of the Cyclades, they do include several idyllic secluded coves that are ideal for a swim in cool, crystal clear water. The island also offers high quality accommodation and dining options in all its villages.
