The chapel of Agios Georgios is located west of the only airstrip of Leros, 200 meters from the ruins of the ancient fortress. It is an 11th century Byzantine church that has been declared a protected site since 1948. Ancient architectural elements have been used in its construction, and it is believed to have been built on the ruins of an ancient temple dedicated to Artemis Iokallida.
