The complex of the old circular Italian market (mercato di porto Lago) with the clock tower, the cinema and the hotel ''Leros'' constitute a unique architectural ensemble of the 1930s, a characteristic example of rationalist architecture and ''International'' style. The circular peristyle internally with the opening upwards (Atrium) and the four entrances housed butchers and greengrocers. On the ground floor of the west side of the building there were shops, while the arched colonnade on the same side is a later addition, altering the original architectural composition. The Italian Gymnasium was housed on the first floor. Although the town of Lakki was classified as a traditional settlement in 1978, few buildings have been declared preserved, including the old market building with the clock tower. The complex was built between 1934-1946.
