Italian prison in Skoubarda

An interesting 4x4 route from Xirokampos is to climb to the top of Skoubardas hill in its SW. The total distance is approximately six (6) kilometers and along the way we will pass by churches, quarries, antennas, fortification tunnels and most importantly we will enjoy an extensive and beautiful view to all points of the horizon. Here at the top, we will see military anti-aircraft tunnels, built by the Italians during the period when they had transformed the island into a large Italian naval base (1923 - 1943).
