A footpath that starts at the village's last houses will take us to up to the castle of Kastanitsa, an old Byzantine tower named after the Friendly (Filiki) Society member Kapsampelis. Here on July 27, 1826, fighters from Kastanitsa soundly defeated Ibrahim's raiders.
