According to mythology, Leto took refuge in Delos to give birth to Apollo and Artemis, and to avoid the wrath of the goddess Hera. The 6th century BC Temple of Leto (Letoon) is dedicated to the mother of the twin gods. It is behind the Agora (Market) of the Italians.
