Karterados

Just 2 kilometers south of Fira, the village of Karterados is said to have taken its name from the “karteri,” or ambush, that the local inhabitants set up for pirates! Built around a riverbed, the village stands out for the cave houses on both sides of the riverbed in the old part of the settlement.
