Agios Georgios

Agios Georgios is a community in the Municipal Unit of Voies which consists of the settlements of Agios Georgios, Megali Spilia, and Viglafia, with the community seat in Agios Georgios. The area has signs of habitation from the Mycenaean era to Byzantine times. Mycenaean tombs have been found near ​​the church of Saint George (Agios Georgios) and the elementary school. Viglafia is the last village in Vatika before we reach Pounta and cross the water to Elafonisos. Especially noteworthy: the wetlands of Limni Strongyli (Round Lake), the prehistoric cemetery at Pavlopetri with the submerged city, and of course the beautiful sandy beaches of the area.
