Southwest of Melissa, after a 1.5 kilometer ascent on a passable dirt road, we reach the deserted monastery of the Life-Giving Spring (Zoodochos Pigi), also called Roitsa Monastery (or Iroitsa). Captain Zacharias Barbitsiotis had his base near the monastery, at the ruins of Zacharias.
