Info

From the Alonia area at Pera Vachlia, we follow the sign for the path that takes us to the church of the Virgin Mary of the Rocks. After a demanding climb of 40 minutes, we ascend 400 meters to admire the little church that was built into the rock.

Location

Outside of Vachlia we can find the hermitage of Saint Charalambos; similarly, we can find the cave with the Virgin Mary of the Rocks (Panagia ton Vrachon) tucked into the steep cliffside in Pera Vachlia. However, we will get much more tired trying to reach the second cave, since it requires a 1,200 meter uphill walk in which we increase our altitude by almost 400 meters (to 1,050 meters above sea level).

From the Alonia area at Pera Vachlia, we follow the sign for the path to the church of the Virgin Mary of the Rocks. 100-120 meters down the path, we will come across the springs of Lesevista with their crystal clear water. There, the laborious 40-minute ascent to the recently renovated little church begins.
