The museum is housed in the Karytsiotis school buildings on Karytsiotis Square. The 2nd National Convention of the independent Greek state was held here in April 1823. Greeks also welcomed a Greek Independence War leader, Dimitrios Ypsilantis, with the ‘Kolokotroneiko table’ or lunch here in 1821.



The museum contains the following major collections:

  • Architectural segments from the villa of Herodes Atticus at the archaeological site of ancient Eve, near Doliana
  • Findings from Hellenistic cemeteries (mostly ceramics)
  • Small findings and coins from various parts of Kynouria
  • Inscriptions from various parts of Kynouria
