Islet of Ro

An excursion worth making when visiting Kastellorizo is a visit to the islet of Ro, west of Megisti (about 1 hour by boat Varvara!). This is where Despina Achladioti (1898-1982), better known as the Lady of Ro, lived and was buried, raising the Greek flag every day from 1943 until her old age. On her visitable grave next to the Greek flag we will see the inscription written ''Flag of Greece and Christ high, holding in our souls every noble thing, you awakened the unspeakable beauty of the idea, praising it''.
