West of the castle, above the harbor, we will find the churches of Agios Nikolaos and Agios Dimitrios built side by side. Agios Nikolaos is a 14th century monument. It had important 17th century frescoes, which are now housed in the Archaeological Museum of the island. Both churches have been restored after the bombings of World War II.
