Riverside Path through the Lousios Gorge to the Water Mills of the Monastery of Saint John the Baptist

We can take a very beautiful short walk beside the Lousios River, following a path that starts at the bridge of Kokkori in Ancient Gortyna (with the Asclepion and the thermal baths), and continues north along the river, passing through the Lousios Gorge to the Monastery of Saint John the Baptist. About one kilometer from the Kokkori bridge, we will reach the old water mills of the monastery and its new bridge. From here an uphill 600-meter path leads us to the gate of the monastery. We will find the remains of the old bridge after we cross the new wooden bridge and start the ascent to the Monastery.
