As long as the monastery of the Dormition was occupied by monks, they cared for and cultivated the land all around it. Three hundred meters east of the monastery, at Pigadakia, there are underground springs that provide plenty of water, which the monks used to irrigate their fields. The path to Pigadakia (which means 'small wells') is very passable and short (less than five minutes), it begins at the point we show here.
