Reenactment of the Battle of Karytaina

The reenactment of the Battle of Karytaina takes place in scenic Karytaina each year. This was the first major victory of the Greek army in the Revolution of 1821. The Greeks were led by Theodoros Kolokotronis, his brilliant strategy led to the defeat of the enemy and helped boost the morale of the Greeks in their struggle for liberation from the Ottomans. The reenactment of these historic events takes place under the auspices of the Cultural Association of United Karytainians and the Municipality of Megalopolis.
