We pass the small marble church of Saint Nicholas (Agios Nikolaos o Marmaritis) on the way from Emporio to Megalochori. It was built with the skillfully carved gray marble from which it took its name (Marmaritis, from the Greek word for marble). It is a family funeral monument dating back to the 3rd century AD.
