MANDRAKI

Mandraki is located on the NW tip of Nisyros, and is the capital, port and main settlement of the island. Restaurants, cafés, bars, shops of all kinds, a pharmacy, a health center, accommodation you will find all concentrated here. Excursion boats also depart and arrive from its port (e.g. from Kos or to the islet of Giali opposite). The settlement is built amphitheatrically on the main hill that dominates the settlement with the old castle, the Venetian castle and the monastery of Panagia Spiliani. NW of the castle is the unique beach of Chochlakoi, with impressive black volcanic large pebbles and samples of the oldest lava rocks of the island. Within the settlement you will also find museums, archaeological and folklore, as well as shops with traditional products of the island and the region.
