My first visit to koutlei from Australia was in 1974 . Most people had moved to the new village by then . At the time I was 5 years old . There was still a regular Sunday service at this church back then . My grandfather Christos Papastavros had the keys to the church and we would go with the donkey to the church and ring the bell to announce to the village below that there would be a service the next Sunday morning . He passed away in 1983 .
